Australian Ladies Masters Royal Pines 2008

Golf medicine was asked to provide physiotherapy and massage services at this years event, which turned out to be a great event despite all the rain during the week leading up. Subsequently, the event was shortened to three rounds, which made for an exciting and pressure filled final round on Sunday. England's Lisa Hall produced three great rounds to take victory on the Sunday. Royal Pines provided great facilities for the physiotherapy and massage service, which ran for the entire week. Sean, Kerrie and Brian's (massage therapist) friendly and professional approach, saw many Australian and international players take advantage of the service.

The Australian PGA Championship was held at the Hyatt Regency Coolum once again, with many of Australia's top players making the trip to the Sunshine Coast. The PGA trainee school for 1st and 2nd year trainees was held recently at Lakelands GC. Kerrie and Sean were invited along this year, to talk about the physical aspects of golf. Kerrie spoke about the physical requirements of the golf swing, and how certain physical deficiencies can result in various swing faults.  Sean then spoke about his current study and demonstrated some of the impressive software associated with the VICON system. A number of trainees were very interested in the study and were more than happy to volunteer. A big thanks to all those trainees who volunteered!

Sean attended the Australian PGA at the Hyatt Regency Coolum to  catch up with a number of players. Check out some of the action. Many of Australia's top players were present at the tournament, which culminated in a stunning playoff between Nick O'Hern and Peter Lonard. O'Hern was the eventual victor in the 3rd playoff hole, after holing out from the greenside bunker.

PGA trainee presentation North Lakes GC

Kerrie and Sean headed to North Lakes GC to talk to the 1st year trainees about golf specific fitness programs. Kerrie spoke to the trainees about 'core stability', a topic that has received much attention of late but can often be very confusing for all of us. The trainees were enthusiastic and had lots of questions to ask. Sean then took the trainees through a golf specific warm up program out on the driving range. The warm up was well received and hopefully will be implemented in the trainees pre game and pre practice routines.

   QLD PGA Emerald Lakes

Golf Medicine provided the physiotherapy and massage services at the QLD PGA held at Emerald Lakes. Many of the players took advantage of the service, which was made possible by the support of the QLD branch of the PGA. The tournament was very well organised and professionally run. Not even the rain on the Saturday was able to dampen the success of the event. Congratulations must go out to the winner of the event, Cameron Percy from Victoria!
